Large Scale Outdoor Shrink Wrapping
for Cosmetic Manufacturing Equipment

Background
A major cosmetic processing and manufacturing company based in the United States required secure packaging for more than 20 industrial units before shipment. Instead of conventional canvas covering, the client specifically requested shrink wrapping for superior protection against weather and transit risks.

Our team was engaged to provide a complete shrink wrapping solution, with Albatross serving as subcontractor support.

The Challenges

This project was carried out entirely in an open outdoor space in Malaysia, which introduced several challenges:
  • Weather Uncertainty – Sudden rain and high humidity required constant monitoring and adaptive scheduling.
  • Extreme Heat – Malaysia’s tropical climate, combined with high-temperature shrink guns, required careful planning to maintain material integrity and worker safety.
  • Open-Space Conditions – Without the protection of a covered facility, dust, wind, and direct sun exposure had to be factored into
    the wrapping process.
  • Large-Scale Coordination – With more than 20 large units to wrap, the project required significant manpower, heavy-lifting equipment, and precise material calculations to ensure consistency and quality.

These conditions made the work far more complex than standard indoor shrink wrapping.

The Albatross Solution

To ensure the project’s success, we carried out detailed planning in advance:
  • Site & Logistics: Secured a suitable project site, arranged cranes for lifting, and coordinated material handling and staging areas.
  • Manpower: Deployed a 10-person team, working extended shifts of 10–12 hours daily (including overtime) to stay on schedule.
  • Materials & Equipment:
  • Desiccants, calculated by cubic meter to control internal moisture effectively.
  • Heavy-duty shrink film.
  • Industrial-grade shrink tape for reinforced sealing.
  • Zipper access doors for inspection and maintenance access.
  • Six shrink guns in different size configurations to accommodate varying unit dimensions.

Execution

The project was executed over two months, with the team maintaining strict quality control despite the unpredictable outdoor environment. Work schedules were adapted around weather conditions, ensuring each unit was wrapped securely without compromising deadlines.

Outcome

  • 20+ large industrial units successfully shrink wrapped to international standards.
  • Delivered on schedule despite environmental and logistical challenges.
  • The client received equipment ready for safe overseas shipment with reliable protection during transit.
